Cas, aka Nico
Cas is one of the first people I sought out for a collaboration. The stories they told through their work as a model spoke to me at one level, but it was the ways that they confronted their past trauma, chronic health issues, and gender dysphoria directly and clearly through creative outlets that resonated most. These weren't subjects that most photographers who began working with them before their transition were addressing, and in fact many continue to mis-gender Cas when posting past work. The work below represents a sequence of three (soon to be four) shoots where we rode the various lines and engaged in an intimate and raw storytelling.
